Common Q&A Test

Quick Answers

I. Punch Press Tooling – Common Questions & Answers

1. Tool Selection & Compatibility

  • Q: How do I choose the right station (A, B, C, D, E)?

  • A: Station selection depends on tool size and shape. A-station is for small round/obround tools; B and C for medium sizes; D and E for larger and special shapes. Always refer to your turret layout and punch press capacity.

  • Q: What’s the difference between thick turret and thin turret tooling?

  • A: Thick turret tools are more robust, support higher tonnage, and have longer life. Thin turret is lighter, lower cost, and common on smaller machines.

  • Q: Are your tools compatible with Amada, Wilson, or Mate systems?

  • A: Yes. Our tooling is fully interchangeable with leading systems, including Amada-style thick turret, Wilson Ultra, and Mate Ultra tooling.

2. Material & Hardness

  • Q: What material are your punches made from?

  • A: Our punches are typically made from high-speed steel (M2) or powder metallurgy steels (KPM), ensuring wear resistance and toughness.

  • Q: What hardness are your punches and dies?

  • A: Punches are heat treated to 58–62 HRC, dies to 58–60 HRC, balancing toughness and wear resistance.

3. Tool Maintenance & Life

  • Q: How do I extend tool life?

  • A: Regular lubrication, correct clearance, and periodic regrinding with a precision grinder (PGX) can extend life up to 3–5 times. Using coated tools like TiCN or Everlast further improves longevity.

  • Q: What’s the recommended regrind limit?

  • A: Generally, regrind up to 80% of the original length. We can provide drawings with regrind guidelines for each tool type.

4. Special Tools

  • Q: Can you make custom shapes (louvers, emboss, card guides)?

  • A: Yes. We manufacture custom form tools using Slow Wire EDM and Shaped EDM, ensuring perfect accuracy and repeatability.

  • Q: What tolerances do you hold?

  • A: Roundness ±0.002 mm, OD grinding ±0.005 mm, concentricity ±0.003 mm, ensuring perfect fit in every batch.

II. Press Brake Tooling – Common Questions & Answers

1. Tooling Types & Compatibility

  • Q: What styles of press brake tooling do you offer?

  • A: We supply American, European, and Wila/Trumpf style tools, all precision-ground for perfect fit and alignment.

  • Q: Will your tools fit my machine?

  • A: Yes. We produce tools compatible with Amada, Accurpress, Bystronic, Trumpf, and other leading brands.

2. Material & Hardness

  • Q: What steel do you use for press brake tools?

  • A: Typically 42CrMo4 or PM steels, heat treated to 55–60 HRC for durability.

  • Q: Do you offer hardened working surfaces?

  • A: Yes. All tools are induction-hardened or through-hardened for long life and consistent bending performance.

3. Precision & Quality

  • Q: How precise are your tools?

  • A: All tools are ground to ±0.00039" (±0.01 mm) with full-length accuracy, ensuring perfect alignment across batches.

  • Q: Will tools from different batches match?

  • A: Yes. We guarantee batch-to-batch consistency through OD grinding, automated forming grinding, and in-house inspection.

4. Maintenance & Care

  • Q: How do I maintain my press brake tooling?

  • A: Keep tools clean, store them properly, and inspect for wear regularly. Use proper tonnage and avoid overloading to extend life.

  • Q: Can you refurbish worn tools?

  • A: Yes. We offer regrinding and refurbishment services to restore tools to like-new condition.
